      I applied for a mortgage loan through First Republic. One of the conditions was that I had to create a checking account with them and make it my primary banking account. I was traveling to ****** and another bank's ATM machine swallowed my debit card. Leaving me with no means to get cash needed for food and transportation. Initially, the first Republic rep had me contact **** for services they did not provide. **** redirected me to a non-working phone number at First Republic. I called First Republic back and they said they could not do anything to help me for the next 7 days while I'm out of the country, leaving me with no way to get cash for food or transportation. This was even though they required me to make their debit account the ordinary one where I store all of my cash. This is unacceptable and creates a hardship for me.

      First Republic (Bank) appreciates the opportunity to respond to Better Business Bureaus complaint, ID no. ********, filed with the Better Business Bureau on April 27, 2024.  In the claim, a Bank client states that the Bank was not able to sufficiently assist them in obtaining a replacement ATM debit card after it was retained by a non-Bank branded ATM machine while traveling out of the country.

      The Bank sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience the client experienced and looks forward to continuing to serve their banking needs.  As such, we respectfully consider this matter closed.
