I must say it does seem to be going downhill the last couple of years. Even though I notified them of my vacation out of the country, my debit card was declined at the *** the first night. I also noticed the *** now only has the co-op network and MasterCard. The only *** in ****** on the co-op network is in Crete and MasterCard is not widely available as a network overseas. That made getting cash very difficult. Today I went in to purchase a gift card and was told they no longer sell them. Not sure what's going on behind the scenes but they seem to be coming less accommodating.California Coast Credit Union

Don't waste your time here for an auto loan. I have been going back and forth with them for MONTHS about insurance coverage on the vehicle which the loan is provided for and whether or not the insurance is acceptable. The insurance was acceptable enough to approve the loan so somebody make it make sense. I have had to spend HOURS on the phone with my insurance, the insurance verification office, and the Cal Coast customer service just to continue to be given more demands while time passes so that they can force me into the insurance they pay for upfront (which is insanely expensive and goes against your interest). You will save time and money by NOT using them.California Coast Credit Union

If you would like to discuss how these requirements can be met, please contact our ************************* directly at ************************ for additional details.Review fromJesse G

1 starI have been banking with CCU for 10 plus years, Ive had minor issues in the pastprimarily with their computer services going down and money being frozen/ access locked on website and apps for hours on end. However, I understand technology sometimes is out of our control. Today was my final straw and I unfortunately had to close out my checking account. The bank, couldnt even give a proper explanation as to why they manually deposited $990 dollars, let it clear and be available for use, then reverse the charge leaving my checking account in the negative. They put me in a very vulnerable position and couldnt even apologize or explain why this happened. I will no longer be banking or recommending them.Review fromSusan F

This is specifically for the **************** *********** branch. A male teller claiming to have authority as assistant insists I need to open another account for my federal funds deposit. I already have 2 accounts. It seems to be an attempt to increase their account openings. This male teller is always very rude. The manager who seems to rarely be at the office ignores my complaint so this male teller does not improve. My security is endangered by this male ******'s act after the manager does not write him up. I closed all my accounts. I just want people to be wary of this Credit Union.California Coast Credit Union

1 starConsumer Beware. California Coast CU notified my husband and I of suspicious activity on our never used credit card- we immediately called and confirmed the charges were fraudulent. Several weeks later received a letter from fraud department stating they were denying our claim and denying credit for the transactions since a chip was used and the card was in our possession. After sending a written response with proof from one of the merchants that the transaction was made by someone else, they again denied our claim-sticking to their statement that a chip was used. This is the first time we've ever been accused of lying by our banking institution or had to conduct our own investigation into fraud on our credit card. We no longer consider California Coast CU to be trust-worthy and we will be closing all our accounts and withdrawing our money. Legal action is next on the list. Also both times we called the dispute department they refused to talk to us for ***** hours. Very poor customer service.Review fromMelanie M

COMPLAINT: ****** Services Supervisor, ***** (employee ID ending ******* have direct deposit for my first job (12+yrs) & make a mobile deposit every 2 weeks for my second full time job. I work hard & have little time given my 80hr work week. I moved several yrs ago & can no longer readily access a branch but have been a loyal (& known) customer > 7yrs. ***** was incredibly condescending & it was clear that she was making a discretionary call to NOT assist though she had the authority to. Im not sure if she could see my photo & therefore made assumptions based on my race however her disdain was palpable.***** stated she declined my request for 3 reasons:Unable to verify check Avg daily deposit Overdrawn status I was made to feel like my business was not valued due to a lower average daily balance & that stung. I am a hard working mom who supports her family as the primary earner (2 kids + spouse in college) as well as my aging ********************** I may not have much in the bank but that is because Im paying for so much for so many not because I dont earn great money. I make six figures a year on my first job alone. It is important to note I had sufficient funds to cover ALL my bills with the balance of the held check. I was trying to be proactive & instead of being sympathetic, ***** scolded me like an errant child.I was told I had to obtain cleared checks from my employers bank as she could not tell it was a paycheck. The check actually had 4 references (payroll check #, pay date, payroll verification # & an ADP signature). ***** isnt new so she cannot feign ignorance, it was plain dishonesty. Both employer & issuing bank are well-known international corporations & this was check 6 or so deposited thus far all consistent amounts, never an issue clearing. Its a disservice to make customers jump through unnecessary hoops; ***** should be ashamed for making an overworked & tired mom cry. Customers know when their business isnt valued.California Coast Credit Union

1 starI have had several instances where my card was locked for legitimate charges. The complaint I have is with the process involved in unlocking the card. If it happens outside of their banker's hours, you have to wait, as there is no 24/7 phone number a customer can call to have the issue immediately resolved (on the customer's time)! It just happened AGAIN on a Saturday night while paying bills online. I scoured the web to try to find a number I could call to resolve the issue now, but no luck. They have a note on their website saying that if a card is blocked, the credit card can't unblock it. HUH??? So, not only was I my weekend plans are ruined but now my bills and other purchases are on hold until I speak to someone on Monday morning. This is ridiculous. Customers should have 24/7 access to credit card fraud personnel to contact whenever something happens!Review fromIdanya M

Worst CS experiences I ever had; 8/26/22 and 8/29/22. I never had any staff treat me/speak to be in such a terrible manner. The service here is nothing like other branches. I think her name is *******, should not be in customer service, if she hates her job and servicing the public. After the manager ****** spoke to me in such a harsh manner I approached the outside of her office and told her in front of other customers that she really needs to work on the way she talks to customers and she gives terrible service. ******* then came out and her tone grew sharper and told me to come in her office, and I told her no I will not I did not feel comfortable and want to be treated bad more. She then stated that I talk to her staff bad and I told her she was in her office and she was a nice lady * was just telling her what problems I was having that had nothing to do with her. I told her that she was nice to me unlike her. I then asked for her name and she said, "I can do even better", and then she pulled out her business card and handed it to me. I let her know I would be sharing my experience and concerns. I have many years of customer service under my belt with various jobs, and believe in treating others with respect. Not all staff, but most here are defensive, and do not apologize for anything. I am not asking for anyone to give me special treatment but to show empathy. I am an empath, and I have been blown away for the way I was talked down to by the manager and an employee. I had the manager ask me, "What do you want". She expressed frustration when I was confused about my bill, she kept saying I did not pay my bill when I did. So much confusion every staff member had a different answer each time. I never knew someone in that position could humiliate me in such a way and literally made me cry. The other staff member "****************" When I cried this lady mocked me and said you have your bill all paid up and the smile and attitude was so much like a high school bully.California Coast Credit Union
