Recreational Vehicles Near You
Setting out on the open road in a Recreational Vehicle (RV) can be a great way to travel. But it’s more of a commitment than buying a plane or train ticket. There are a couple of very important questions to consider before you get started:
What are the different classes or types of RVs? Should I rent or buy an RV?
See our information at the bottom of this page.

More information on RVs
Classes of RVs
RV is a broad term. One of the first things you’ll need to understand is the different RV types. If you’re looking for an RV you can drive by itself and not have to tow; there are three main classes:
- Class A Class A RVs can be either diesel or gas-powered. They are motorhomes that resemble buses and are roughly 30 to 40 feet long. These RVs can be ideal for full-time RVers and can be built with many of the comforts of home, including separate rooms, appliances, and electronics. They are also much bigger than your standard car or truck and can take some time to learn how to drive.
- Class B Class B RVs are also RV vans or camper vans, as they are typically built on a van chassis. Like Class A RVs, they can be either diesel or gas-powered. Typically 20-25 feet long, they drive like a car or minivan, so they can be a good entry vehicle for a new enthusiast.
- Class C Class C RVs are what many people think of when they think “RV” or “Camper.” They are smaller than Class A and larger than Class B and have an area over the cab for extra sleeping space or storage that gives them a distinctive look. These are built on a truck chassis and are available in either diesel or gas. There are many different floorplans available, which can include kitchens, bathrooms, and other flexible spaces. Class C RVs can often access state park campsites which Class A RVs can’t.
Rent or buy?
When you set out to look at RVs, you will want to consider both RV sales and RV rentals. In addition to the actual cost, some of the other factors you’ll want to think about include:
- Do you have space to park an RV? This can be either at home or with an RV storage business.
- How often are you planning on using the RV? And for how long?
- Are you ready to maintain an RV if you buy it? Some people will do the maintenance, while others will take the RV back to the RV dealer for work.
- What are the financing options for buying an RV?
- How much will it cost you to outfit the RV with the features you want?
- Do you have a lot of customization needs for the RV?

Accreditation and Ratings Overview
Select businesses earn BBB Accreditation by undergoing a thorough evaluation and upholding the BBB Accreditation Standards.
BBB assigns ratings from A+ (highest) to F (lowest). In some cases, BBB will not rate the business (indicated by an NR, or "No Rating") for reasons that include insufficient information about a business or ongoing review/update of the business's file.
